Mounts are far more than a speed boost—they're a whole new way to explore the world of Tyria. Unlock and train your new companions using the max-level Mastery character progression system, and explore freely by leaping across canyons, bounding up high cliffs, and skimming over quicksand.

— Official site

Mounts fix.png

Mounts are creatures used to traverse through the Crystal Desert and the open world of Tyria.[1] They are available exclusively through the Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire expansion.

Mechanics

Mounts are tied to the mastery system and are unlocked after completing the first Path of Fire story chapter, Sparking the Flame. Once unlocked, they can be used by any character on the player's account. Mounts can be summoned any time using the X default key. Right-clicking the skill icon will also allow you to choose one of your unlocked mounts. Pressing the same key will dismount you a short distance from the ground, meaning you can dismount and then glide.

If the player receives significant fall damage while on a mount, they will be forcefully dismounted. This does not, however, impact the mount in any way; the player can immediately mount them again. A player cannot mount while in combat, in a Mounts Disabled zone, or an area where the mount would not fit. Being in combat does not affect the movement speed of a mount. Entering a Mounts Disabled zone will dismount the player.

Mounts' health, stamina and engage skill damage are all separate and independent from the player's gear.

Types

Each mount has its own unique set of abilities and characteristics; they possess one offensive skill that, when used, also dismounts the player.

The Raptor

Raptors are hardy and swift, and surprisingly easy to train due to their intelligence. They can cross great distances in a single leap, making them the favored mount of many of the desert's denizens. Travelers are advised not to leave the city of Amnoon without obtaining a raptor companion.

The Raptor is the first mount available to players and is capable of long horizontal leaps across wide gaps. The Raptor's offensive skill is Tail Spin.

The Springer

Their long ears and wiggly noses are charming, but the springer's greatest strength is their ability to make jaw-dropping vertical leaps. Traveling merchants and couriers use them to cross sheer cliffs in the Crystal Highlands, shaving weeks off their journeys.

— Official site

См. также: Crystal Desert mastery tracks#Springer Mount

The Springer's offensive skill is Cannonball.

The Skimmer

Skimmers are graceful creatures native to the Elon River. They live above water, breathing through large air sacs as they float above the surface. While they cannot truly fly, they can hover for short distances at a height of several norn, making them indispensable for crossing large areas of treacherous quicksand or sulfur.

— Official site

См. также: Crystal Desert mastery tracks#Skimmer Mount

The Skimmer's offensive (as well as healing) skill is Barrel Roll.

The Jackal

Jackals are elusive, magical creatures formed of shifting sands and given shape by magical runes. They can dissipate into sand to teleport short distances and dash through sand portals. The djinn of the Desolation create and tame them; prove yourself a worthy trainer, and you may befriend one.

— Official site

См. также: Crystal Desert mastery tracks#Jackal Mount

The Jackal's offensive skill is Pounce.

The Griffon

Despite weighing as much as a dolyak, the elusive giant griffon can glide at high altitudes and even take off briefly from the ground. The Mordant Crescent is acting to suppress recent rumors of griffon riders in the desert skies, and you have quite a journey ahead if you’d like one for yourself.

— Official site

См. также: Crystal Desert mastery tracks#Griffon Mount

The Griffon is a hidden mount that can be unlocked by completing the Open Skies collections for each of the maps in the Crystal Desert. These collections are able to be unlocked only after completing the Path of Fire storyline. The Griffon's offensive skill is Swoop.
