Skrittsburgh contains many references to the real life city of Pittsburgh. Hillstead is a portmanteau of the names of two Pittsburgh neighborhoods, the Hill District and Homestead.
The sentry Squrlookal's name may be a Red Dwarf reference (Duct Soup, Season 7).
