Dialogue
- Citizen 1
- "Now this is a story even I find hard to believe, which means it must be true. I know a guy who said his friend was killed near Lake Delavan by killer butterflies Can you imagine? Butterflies that kill?"
- That can't be true.
- "That's what I thought. But if it's not true, why I haven't seen him since?[sic] It's got to be true. How do you think a butterfly kills people? I don't think they can hold weapons. I bet it was poison."
- It makes more sense than a mace. I have to go now.
- "That's what I thought. But if it's not true, why I haven't seen him since?[sic] It's got to be true. How do you think a butterfly kills people? I don't think they can hold weapons. I bet it was poison."
- Anything can kill...if it's desperate enough.
- That can't be true.
- Citizen 2
- "Hey, have you heard the latest about Countess Anise? Well, you know how she seems almost unnaturally beautiful? I hear she uses MAGIC to look that good. Can you imagine?"
- Really?
- "My friend—he's quite reputable, I assure you—tells me he knows someone who knows someone who swears it's the truth. I bet she's nothing without her magic. I wish I had that kind of magic."
- I'll be going now.
- "My friend—he's quite reputable, I assure you—tells me he knows someone who knows someone who swears it's the truth. I bet she's nothing without her magic. I wish I had that kind of magic."
- It's strange what some people would use such power for.
- Really?
- Citizen 3
- "I've got the latest, and trust me, you're going to want to hear this. I've heard that Queen Jennah has been training an elite military force. You know what's surprising? It's made up of quaggans!"
- Quaggans?
- "I was so surprised. But it makes perfect sense. Because they're quaggans—no one would ever expect them to attack. I'm no military strategist, but I think that's brilliant."
- It certainly sounds creative. I hope it works.
- "I was so surprised. But it makes perfect sense. Because they're quaggans—no one would ever expect them to attack. I'm no military strategist, but I think that's brilliant."
- That would be something to see. Good-bye.
- Quaggans?
- Citizen 4
- "I don't think Lion's Arch is quite as bad as my friend says it is, but I'm sure that it can't compare with Divinity's Reach. This is truly the most magnificent city in the world."
- Sure is. Bye!
- Citizen 5
- "Why would anyone want to live in Lion's Arch. The way I hear it, there's no law, no order, not even decency or common sense. But what do you expect from a city build by a bunch of filthy pirates?"
- You obviously don't expect much.
- Dwayna Low Road Citizen 1
- "Can you believe it? I saw Logan Thackeray. And he looked right at me. It was brief, and I suppose I could have imagined it, but I'm sure he almost gave me a second look. Or would have."
- Yes, I'm sure that's what happened.
- Dwayna Low Road Citizen 2
- "My friend is head over heels for Logan Thackeray. He's all she talks about. After all, he's commendable, and he's good looking. And, those sad eyes of his are very sexy."
- Maybe so.
The Great Collapse
Note: These NPCs were not in The Great Collapse area itself, but around it and were removed during the Queen's Jubilee.
- Male Citizen 1
- "Dwayna must have been with us that day. If the collapse had been sudden, we'd have lost so much more than just buildings. Still, it's a shame that I won't get to see the Great Symphony Hall again."
- How did it start?
- "I heard that the cracks started near the markets, but that late at night it's usually pretty empty. The Shining Blade evacuated us all before I saw any of that, thankfully."
- Glad you made it out safely.
- Sounds like you were lucky. Good-bye.
- Female Citizen 2
- "It's been months since the collapse, and is anyone helping me rebuild my shop? No! All they'll tell me is that I'll be let back in when it's safe. I have a business to run!"
- Aren't you glad you weren't injured?
- "You too, huh? People keep saying how "grateful" I should be. To the Shining Blade. To the queen. To the gods. Well, until one of them starts paying my bills, I'm not feeling very "grateful" to anyone."
- I hope things work out.
- Good luck.
- Male Citizen 2
- "I keep trying to get a closer look at the sinkhole, but those guards won't let me near it. They aren't giving much in the way of answers, either."
- What has you so curious?
- "That whole area's been a mighty creepy since the first cracks appeared. Weird noises and such. My brother used to tease me about drakes in the sewers. I'm starting to think maybe he was right."
- Interesting theory.
- I don't have any answers either.
- Female Citizen 2
- "You should've seen the crowds a month after the collapse, all gossiping about who saw what and which buildings were lost. Now they've mostly moved on. I guess construction just isn't that interesting."
- What was here before, anyway?
- "You never saw our arts district? All the best theatres, craftsmen and entertainment you could imagine. Some have relocated to the commons as street performers, but it's just not the same experience."
- I hope the rebuild goes well.
- I'm sure you'll find something else to talk about.
Quotes
The Great Collapse
- Male idle dialogue
- Gossiping Citizen: Did you ever stop to wonder if something caused that collapse intentionally? Scary thought.
- Female idle dialogue
- Gossiping Citizen: I was strolling along the promenade when the main collapse happened. It made quite a ruckus!
- Conversation between the two
- Gossiping Citizen: I'll tell you what, looking at that sinkhole makes me mighty uncomfortable.
- Gossiping Citizen: Yeah. Imagine how many people would've been injured if the queen hadn't evacuated the area before it collapsed.
- Gossiping Citizen: It's not just that. I've heard strange noises coming from that place, and I doubt it's just the earth settling.
